Community Defined

Although there is no universally accepted definition of "community" Alexis de Tocqueville, a French count who visited the United States in 1831 summed it up thus

A Community is a group of people who:
1.  made a decision that they had the power to decide what was a problem
2.  made a decision they had the power to decide how to solve the problem
3.  made a decision they would be key players in the implementing of the best   solution to the problem.

By Definition it is my belief that we at Bipolar World are a Community

Everyone is welcome!

Many individuals who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder have no one to turn to, to discuss their feelings about the illness.  Many have questions that they feel are "silly" and they don't want to bother their psychiatrist with.  The internet has proven to be a wonderful resource for meeting with others with the same diagnosis.  It is true that nobody who has not "walked at least a mile in our moccasins" can truly understand how we feel.

Because of the importance of support Bipolar World offers various support areas.  Please feel free to participate in as many as you wish.  In all areas you will find warmth, friendship and empathy,  and people who share your diagnosis.  We recognize that it is difficult to be "new" to any group and will do our best to welcome you and make you a part of our community.

Note:  Chat Rooms are open 24 hours a day for your use.  Please feel free to contact a friend and meet there for a chat at any time.  Scheduled chats for the rooms that are "as advised" will be announced by the chat moderator in the forum for that topic so watch for them.

The forums are open 24 hours a day. Use them freely!
