Can forgetting be associated with a hypomanic or manic period?  My friends tell me I have done things and been places that I don't remember and they have pictures of me at some places that I have no recognition of.  No drugs or alcohol are involved either, so I was wondering if the cause was bipolar?

Generally speaking, "no".  You could read about "dissociation" or "fugue states".  I have one patient with a mood problem who had the experience you describe during a migraine (she remembered the headache all right).
