I am a 50 year old recently diagnosed with hypomania, and have been brought down to earth with lithium.  I haven't had a "major" depressive episode that I've known of, but suffered from mild-moderate depression on and off for 20 years.  Question:  can hypomania exist by itself, without depression?

Hypomania definitely can, like even full manic episodes, occur by itself.
