Q: Trying to Find Clinic for Daughter
Can you please give me any help about a clinic that treats bipolar.
I live in Florida, my daughter lives in Oregon. I will send her
anywhere to get help. She has had treatment and now if off all medication
and trying alternative "things". She has called me and sounds
helpless. She is 31. I cannot locate a facility that she can go to
as a patient to try to get help. Please help me. Thank you so much.
Dear Ms J' --
In my part of Oregon it's hard to find a psychiatrist taking new patients.
So instead of taking new patients myself, for several years I've just been doing
"consultations" for primary care doc's who are stuck trying to manage
the patients' symptoms anyway. So if your daughter has a primary care
doctor who is willing to try some recommendations, he/she could refer her to our
group (Samaritan Mental Health) for a consultation. We're in Corvallis at
541 757 5235.
(Lest anyone think I'm writing letters here to solicit
new clients like this, and that's why I'm doing this (with some
medicolegal implications), don't worry: we have plenty of patients to
serve in our area without looking for more...)
