my mom has bi-polar coupled with something called hsp or fsp
(hereditary spastic paraplegia) and drinks like a fish. my concern is to
help her. she won't stop drinking. i was thinking of contacting her
doctor to see about regular blood levels. i'm scared because any mention

Dear Nicole --
At minimum you can call her doctor and ask to leave voicemail (or write
her/him), noting in as much detail as possible how much your mother is
drinking. The doc' knows? If not, that will be very useful
information that might lead him/her to some action that's beyond your reach at
this point. Another resource for you would be your local "Alanon"
group. Look up Alcoholics Anonymous in the phone book and ask for the closest
Alanon group.
