Q: How Does One Get a Diagnosis
I haven't actually been diagnosed but this isn't a "just
curious" message either. For 15 years, I have been diagnosed with
Clinical Depression but nothing has truely helped my severe depression states.
I have a reputation for making plans and never finishing things. College,
careers, even small things such as volunteering at the Church. My
depressive states are obvious but I wonder if I should be looking at Bipolar II.
As I write this I am in a depressive state (tears and all) but I also feel
"wired" with no direction for all this energy. Could this be an
example of Mixed State? I am just learning about this as I come from a
family that doesn't believe Depression exists. Attitude: Get over
it. Married 3 times and two of those ended because of extramarital affairs
when in fact I don't like sex. Another symptom maybe? I don't have
insurance for a Psychiatrist and my PCP isn't qualified for this. Don't know
where to turn right now. On Wellbutrin SR 300mg twice daily. Doesn't
seem to make a difference or maybe my depression has gotten worse. Anyway,
what meds are available and how does one get a diagnosis? Also, will I
need to be hospitalized for treatment (I have 5 year old triplet boys and 13
year old daughter to consider)? I appreciate your reading this.
Thank you
Dear Mr. E' --
Have a look at my website on Bipolar
II to learn more about "how one gets a diagnosis" (the Diagnosis
section); and what med's are available (the Treatment sections). Usually
hospitalization is not needed, as long as you're safe.
