Dr. Phelps,

Have you heard anything more from the Truehope (pig food) nutritional supplements study?  My 14 yo daughter is on Depakote and doing OK but has difficulty with relationships and focusing.  Do you think this supplement would help?  Also, what about the thyroid hormones for a 14 yo girl?  Thank you!!

Sorry to say, no new news that I know of.  A reporter from Canada was trying to reach me, I think because he was wanting to clue me in to some negative material on this approach, but I didn't hear anything further there.  I don't know about thyroid hormones in a 14 year old; her primary care doctor could tell you whether my impression, namely that thyroid replacement would routinely be given to a 14 year old if needed for purely thyroid reasons, is correct; but that doesn't comment on its wisdom for bipolar disorder, where even in adults there's very little to go on, as you may have discovered in the thyroid materials on my website.  Sorry not to be of more help.
