What is the best treatment for a 5 year old with very severe manic
episodes who functions well during the day, but rapidly cycles with his mother
later in the evenings?

Two factors keep me from a decent answer. First, I'm not a child
psychiatrist. There are such, and they would be the ones to ask.
Secondly, the answer would depend a great deal on a lot of other factors you
couldn't list here. So I would defer to a local child psychiatrist.
