Q: Resources for My Husband
After 5 years of experiencing my (new) husbands mood swings, I believe he
may have Cyclothymia. He is now depressed; his symptoms seem to be
worse in winter. (His age is 47.)
Although an intelligent man, he is extremely resistant to being labeled or
diagnosed as "crazy" (his words). Yet his extreme ups and downs have all but
ruined our marriage, and affect his work as well.
Can you please recommend to me some good resources .... books... articles, etc.
for HIM, that can describe this illness, and encourage him to get help? Most
resources are for the "regular" Bipolar - but he doesn't have the
extreme manias, so he would likely just dismiss it. Thank you!
Dear Ms. J'
If you haven't found it yet, my website has a discussion of
bipolar II ("mood swings without
mania") that I hope is just what you're looking for for him (and for you). I
hope you haven't found it, because if you've already read it and still have this
question, I really wasn't as effective as I hoped to be with that site! Let me
know...
