Q: Depression & Meds - Need Help
I have mild depression. The antidepressants dont work for me because
I overdose on them(but I dont take any other pills).I wonder if it would just be
better if I saved my family and self the hassle and just stop taking the pills
altogether. The main question is will my temper be under control well enough?Im
19 now.I used to throw fits sometimes when I didnt take antidepressants but that
might of been just teenage angst because I remember some times when I made a
scene when I was on Depakote.I need some real help and I dont want wind up in an
asylum.I dont even care if I get really sad because Id rather have people talk
to me and help me out than try to hide.
Dear Mr. G' --
"Rather have people talk to me and help, instead of hide": you've got
the right track there for sure. This is the kind of thing that a
psychiatrist or nurse practitioner is supposed to be able to help you figure
out. If you're still having episodes while on these kind of medications,
it's time for a review of them and consideration of other approaches (if your
diagnosis is bipolar disorder, you can find a discussion of those approaches in
the treatment section of my
site
on BPII). There are many options so the important thing is not to give
up looking for the one that might work for you.
