Q: How Common is Being on 4 Meds?
I have suffered from BiPolar since I was 13 and I was not diagnosed
until I was 26. I am 27. I have been having a really tough time lately so,
I have gone through a medication adjustment. I have been taking lamictal since
my diagnosis. I am currently on a dose of 400 mg. per day, I was on Prozac until
the events of September 11th. I was changed over to Zoloft. I am take 200 mg.
per day. Recently my doctor added 100mg of Wellbutrin and he put me on Depakote.
I started the depakote with an amount of 250 mg, I am currently up to 750 mg.
How common is it to be on 4 medications and is that a viable treatment?
Dear Jennifer --
You might do well to read my summary of "treatment" under the
Bipolar
II section of my
website.
My thoughts on options you'll find there might be relevant to your question, for
discussion with your doc'.
