My son with BP is losing his hair. He is 21 and there is no hair loss in family members. He recently has had many frequent medication and dose changes and has started on Lamictal this month.  He is now on 100mg and went up quicker then your dosing schedule. The doctor also increased his Zyprexa and Lithium. Have you seen hair loss on Lamictal? What do you suspect could be causing this? TIA

I think I've seen that once.  I searched around a bit: don't find much evidence of it online anywhere including PUB MED (searched lamotrigine alopecia and a few other combo's).  However, a friend says "medications are guilty until proven innocent".  On the other hand, if it's stopped, it has to be started using the same slow increase as before.  I've seen lithium cause hair thinning too.  

Not too helpful, is it.  Good luck figuring that out.
