Q: Wonders about Keppra for 12 Year Old
Dr. Phelps,
My 12 year old son has just been diagnosed with BP II, ADHD, and ODD. They put
him on Keppra. (2000mg) so far. I have been doing research and I see that this
drug has not been used for children under 16 years of age. This is also the
first medication they have tried on him. Most other people treated with this
medication have failed first with the more traditional meds for this disease. Do
you think this is a wise choice of medication for my son? Thank you in advance
for your help.
Sincerely,
Tracy
Dear Tracy --
On the basis of the information presented here I cannot discern why Keppra, and
so would understand what you're wondering about; however, I'd have to presume
the doc' knows what she's doing and has a reason she could explain to you in
response to this question. Here are some thoughts on
talking with doctors
in case you're going to try that. Good luck.
Dr. Phelps
