Q: Sleep Disorder or Bipolar Disorder?
I have been bi polar for 15 yrs. Last 7 yrs only on Melarill doing
fine. In Sept had a cardiac episode from med and intrnist stoped it ubruptly. I
have not been able to sleep since. Until Dec awake 5 nights all night and day.
Then 2or3 nights with 2 hrs sleep then the cycle of no sleep again. The sleeping
meds only last 5 nihts then did nothing. I have been on Lithium and Trileptal
but I am still not sleeping right. Do you think I can go on something else or it
is also a sleep disorder?
Thank you I could really use some advise
Dear Kathy --
As bipolar disorder is known to be able to do this kind of thing to your sleep,
I'd presume for now that it's bipolar disorder that's doing this, as long as
there are other symptoms of bipolar disorder showing up at the same time
(mood/energy shifts, for example). If you had no symptoms except the sleep
problem, I suppose there might be some other explanations worth looking into.
