Q:  My Dr. wants me to try  Risperdal Consta but I am scared and leary.  I currently take lithium, topamax, busbar, lunesta, effexor xr.  Have you have any experiences with the  Risperdal Consta?  Negative or positive?  Thanks in advance.

I try not to use new medications for as long as I can stand it, although this is mostly just a new way of delivering a medication that's been around a pretty long time now. I'd be more worried about risperidone in general than about the Consta form of it. Perhaps you and your doctor could talk about using the pill version for a while to see how that worked before switching to the Consta?
