Q:  What Route Can I Go Now to Treat My Depression?

I have tried every medicine possible to treat my depression (bipolar) without any luck.  What route can I go now?  I appreciate any suggestion.

Bipolar depression can be very difficult to treat. First you need to meet with a good psychiatrist who can take the time to review your medication history thoroughly as well as your diagnosis.  Its possible there are combinations of medications that you have not tried that may be helpful.  Also looking at your diagnosis to make sure that there is not another problem (ADHD, an anxiety disorder, etc.) that may be interfering with your ability to respond to the normal course of treatment.  I am sure that you have been tested for any possible physical causes for this, but, if not, this should also be done.  Next you may want to consider ECT, rTMS, or chronotherapy if you have tried all the possible pharmacological treatments for your bipolar depression.  Lastly you should think about undergoing some sort of psychotherapy which can be very helpful.
