Benny the Bipolar Puppy  ~ Page 5 ~

When Benny was five years old he started going to school. His parents hoped that he would do much better with the routine of the classroom, but instead things got worse. By the time he was nine years old he had failed twice and was still in grade two. His parents were at their wits end, and sat down one night to make a list of the things Benny was doing to take with them to Benny's next doctor appointment.
  • Benny was nearly always irritable
  • Sometimes he was obviously depressed ... sleeping long hours, telling his mom and dad what a terrible person he was and even a couple of times saying he should kill himself.
  • He had terrible nightmares and often wet the bed.
  • His mood changed rapidly lasting from a few hours to a few days.
  • His sleep pattern was often erratic - he wanted to sleep at school
  • He cried a lot but could not say what was wrong
  • He was a loner - nobody would play with him
